When sourcing industrial hook and loop fasteners, VTAPE sets the benchmark for quality and performance. But what do these standards actually mean, and how do they affect your product performance?

VTAPE Sew-On Specifications

VTAPE defines the gold standard for sew-on hook and loop fasteners. When buyers specify "VTAPE grade," they typically mean:

• Hook density: ≥300 hooks/cm² for standard nylon hooks
• Peel strength: ≥3.5 N/cm (measured per ASTM D5170)
• Shear strength: ≥5.0 N/cm² (measured per ASTM D5169)
• Loop pile height: 1.8 ± 0.2mm for standard loop
• Wash resistance: 200+ cycles at 60°C without significant performance loss

These specifications apply primarily to sew-on hook and loop tapes used in apparel, medical devices, military gear and industrial applications.

VTAPE Adhesive Standards

VTAPE adhesive products use premium pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) technology. When buyers specify "VTAPE grade adhesive," they mean:

• Initial tack: ≥4.0 N/cm (immediate bonding force)
• Peel adhesion: ≥3.5 N/cm (90° peel test)
• Shear resistance: ≥6.0 N/cm² (static load test)
• Temperature resistance: -20°C to +80°C
• Substrate compatibility: Metal, plastic, glass, painted surfaces

These specifications apply to self-adhesive hook and loop products where the fastener is bonded to a surface rather than sewn.
